Una canzone per salvare la Terra, una canzone per amarla, una canzone per sostenerla. È Earth, il nuovo singolo del rapper Lil Dicky con Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Leonardo di Caprio e tanti altri artisti di fama internazionale per un totale di 30 voci.
“We love the Earth, it’s our planet, we love the Earth, it’s our home”, ovvero amiamo la Terra, è il nostro Pianeta, amiamo la Terra, è casa nostra. Questi i versi del ritornello, entrati in tendenza su Twitter al lancio del singolo.
Come illustrato sul sito welovetheearth.org, la canzone non vuole solo tenere alta l’attenzione verso il nostro Pianeta in vista della Giornata Mondiale della Terra del 22 aprile. Il progetto è soprattutto un modo per sostenere la natura e proteggerla. Come? In due modi: firmando una petizione (dopo aver fatto un test “per verificare la tua impronta ecologica”) oppure semplicemente condividendo il video della canzone (su YouTube). Inoltre, è possibile acquistare materiale di merchandise.
I profitti generati da “Earth”, compresa la merce stampata sui materiali sostenibili, saranno donati a un gruppo selezionato di organizzazioni non profit che lavorano per aiutare a combattere il cambiamento climatico. La Fondazione Leonardo DiCaprio distribuirà questo sostegno a organizzazioni specifiche attraverso tre pilastri collegati alla soluzione dei cambiamenti climatici: natura, energia e agricoltura.
“La Terra ha bisogno del nostro aiuto – si legge nel sito del progetto – Se non apporteremo enormi cambiamenti al nostro comportamento nei prossimi 12 anni, tutto sarà irreversibile. Gli oceani saranno distrutti, le grandi tempeste si moltiplicheranno, le città si distruggeranno, l’aria seccherà e noi finiremo il cibo e l’energia. E non tra un paio di centinaia di anni. Gli scienziati dicono che è proprio dietro l’angolo. Ma il potere di prevenire questo è nelle nostre mani! Possiamo salvare la Terra!”. Insomma, Earth di Lil Dicky vuole dirci “la Terra è la nostra casa, ma non stiamo mostrando l’amore e la cura che merita. È un posto così incredibile e non abbiamo bisogno di trattarlo così”.
L’obiettivo è quello di “unire le forze per far sì che i governi del mondo garantiscano a tutti un ambiente sano e prospero” in vista dei due importanti congressi delle Nazioni Unite in arrivo alla fine del 2020: uno sul cambiamento del cambiamento climatico e uno sulla diversità biologica.
E allora via alla condivisione del video. Per metà in formato cartone animato e per metà in live action. Mostra i suoi 30 ospiti musicali in veste di animali. Justin Bieber, ad esempio, veste il ruolo di un babbuino mentre Ariana Grande è una zebra.
